2024 Fix-It Clinic
It's time to get things fixed! An Anoka County resident gets their clock repaired at the April 6, 2024, Fix-It Clinic.

 2024 Fix-It Clinic

On April 6, the City of Columbus was fortunate to host one of only seven Fix-It Clinics conducted by the Anoka County Human Resources Department in 2024 at the Columbus Community/Senior Center. Fix-It Clinics are great opportunities to repair broken small household appliances, fixtures, clothing and more for free by credentialed volunteers, saving those items from the trash dump and extending their useful life.

As Anoka County residents, people that live in Columbus do not have to wait for the next time the Fix-It Clinic comes to our City. Instead, they can attend any event within the County. Find the next Fix-It Clinic location here!

  2023 Fall Fest

After a three-year hiatus, Columbus Fall Fest is back and better than ever! To make up for the three missed festivals, this year's edition has been extended to fill an entire three-day weekend, extending from September 15-17.

Fall Fest speeds off to a hot start on Friday September 15, at Running Aces where the evening's competitions will be run under the "Columbus Night at the Races" banner. Columbus businesses will be sponsoring many of the races run that evening. Post time is 7 p.m. But don't throw your popcorn away when you're done with the racing - there's still a movie to watch! Scheduled to start around 8 p.m., Running Aces' parking lot will be converted into a one-night-only drive-in movie theater, showing a timeless classic, The Sandlot! Don't be alarmed when you park your car for the movie and you don't see the traditional speaker setup to provide the movie's audio. Instead, be prepared to tune your radio to the frequency the movie's sound will be broadcast over and you'll be able to enjoy the film just as if you were watching it in your living room. The movie runs for approximately 100 minutes.

The traditional Fall Fest events have been scheduled for Saturday, September 16. Complete with a classic car show, food trucks, a bingo hall, a beer garden, a helicopter, artisans and much more! Be sure to visit Columbus City Park from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.to partake in the festivities!

Fall Fest comes to a sweet and delectable finish on Sunday, September 17 with the first of the Columbus Lions Club’s pancake breakfasts for the 2023-24 season. Drop by the Columbus Community Center between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. to wrap up the weekend’s festivities and support your community - all at the same time.

2023 N2U - Schlieff party
The Schlieffs' party on Bender Street was very well attended!

  2023 Night to Unite

This year's Night to Unite was Tuesday, August 1, 2023. Also known as National Night Out, Night to Unite is an annual community-police awareness-raising event. Normally, this is an opportunity for neighbors to organize neighborhood block parties and interact with first responders, and this year was no different for Columbus participants!

The City Council would like to extend thanks to the sheriff's deputies, firefighters and residents who participated in these events. A special thanks goes to the following for organizing and hosing these community-building events this year:

  • Jake and Wendy Markham
  • Kendall and Tim Melchior
  • Brent and Lisa Schlieff
  • Kellie and Tom Schoolmeesters
