It's Columbus Recycle Week!

Columbus, Minn. -- With events scheduled for Wednesday and Saturday, Columbus residents are going to have ample opportunities to recycle those unused items taking up space around the house.

On Wednesday, September 7, the City will be collecting bicycles in any condition to donate to Bikes4Kids.  Later in the week, on Saturday, September 10, the City is hosting its second and final Recycling Drop-Off event of 2022.

Bicycle Collection Event

Founded in 2011, Bikes4Kids is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization headquartered in Ham Lake, Minn. that "collects and refurbishes used, serviceable bicycles to redistribute to kids and people in need." April was the last time the City hosted a bike collection, and it gathered 43 bicycles to be fixed-up and redistributed to those in need in Anoka County and around the Twin Cities area, complete with a new helmet, lock and safety instructions.

Drop-off will be available from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Drop-Off Recycling Day

The City's second and final Drop-Off Recycling Day of the year is taking place on Saturday, September 10. Recyclable materials from automotive batteries and scrap metal to TVs and furniture will be accepted. Pricing for different recycled objects can be found in the City's Recycling Flyer, mailed in the spring. Don't forget to bring along the coupon from the flyer, as it will cover the cost of any two recycled items.

It should be noted that, unlike the spring recycle event, no paper shredding will be taking place on September 10. Instead, mark the calendar to bring those important documents requiring appropriate destruction to the Fix-It Clinic on Saturday, October 1.

Drop-off will be available from 9 a.m.-noon.
