Potomac Street NE Reconstruction (County Highway 19) from Lake Drive to Broadway Avenue NE - Public Open House

Project Background/Description

This project consists of reconstruction of Potomac Street (County Highway 19) between Lake Drive (County Highway 23) and Broadway Avenue (County Highway 18). Improvements include adding paved shoulders and right-turn lanes.  

Anoka County and City of Columbus staff appreciate those in the Columbus community that attended the Potomac Street open house on October 8, 2024. County and City staff reviewed the feedback from attendees, and, after further discussion and evaluation, the County and City will not be constructing an off-street trail along Potomac Street. The project will continue focus on improvements to add paved shoulders and turn lanes along the corridor.  

The County is currently evaluating the construction schedule for the project. It is anticipated the 3-mile highway will be constructed in two phases, with the project split to construct the south half in 2026 and north half tentatively scheduled for 2027.

• Project staff will deliver a presentation at 5:15pm, followed by Q&A session
