Is your Septic System due to be Pumped and Inspected?
Columbus City Code requires septic tanks to be pumped and inspected every three (3) years. This maintenance program is designed to extend the useful life of your septic system, avoid unnecessary expansions and protect the quality of underground aquifers. Minnesota law requires that a licensed septic maintainer obtain a permit to pump and inspect. For a list of licensed septic maintainers, please visit the "Who can I get to do a point of sale septic compliance inspection, pump/maintain my septic system or conduct a soil boring?" section on the City's Building FAQ page.
If you have any questions, contact the City of Columbus' Building Department at permitcdr@ci.columbus.mn.us or 651-419-9012. The City's office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. till 4 p.m.
