Listed below are the current openings on boards, committees, etc. serving the City of Columbus. Please follow the submittal instructions detailed within the specific posting. If you would like to be notified of future postings, please register for email updates.

Boards and Committees Serving the City of Columbus

Coon Creek Watershed District (CCWD): One of the three watersheds in Columbus. In addition to Columbus, CCWD boundaries also include Andover, Blaine, Coon Rapids, Fridley, Ham Lake and Spring Lake Park. The CCWD Board of Managers is made up of five managers, each serving staggered three-year terms. Managers are nominated by their municipality and appointed by the Anoka County Board of Commissioners.

Economic Development Authority (EDA): The EDA is a seven-person body charged with facilitating responsible economic growth and redevelopment that contributes significantly to Columbus' taxbase with a goal of maintaining an affordable rural lifestyle for our residents. The City Council fills five of the seven seats, with the remaining two openings filled by at-large members of the professional community on staggered six-year terms.

Forest Lake Cable Commission (FLCC): Columbus and Forest Lake have established the four-member FLCC that sets policy for the station. Each City appoints a City Councilmember and citizen representative to meet bi-monthly.

Park Board: The Park Board is a voluntary group of five residents that meets to discuss park acquisition and development. Board members serve staggered three-year terms.

Planning Commission: The Planning Commission is a five-member group which makes recommendations to the City Council on planning and zoning issues, land use, studies, ordinance amendments, and community development. Commissioners serve staggered three-year terms.

Public Works Advisory Board (PWAB): The PWAB is comprised of seven volunteers from the community, charged with making recommendations to City Council concerning road projects, equipment acquisition and replacement and more.

Rice Creek Watershed District (RCWD): One of the three watersheds in Columbus. In addition to Columbus, RCWD boundaries also include Cities in Anoka, Ramsey and Washington Counties. The RCWD Board of Managers is made up of five managers, two of which represent Anoka County. Managers serve three-year terms. In Anoka County, managers are nominated by their municipality and appointed by the Anoka County Board of Managers.

Sunrise River Watershed Management Organization (SRWMO): One of the three watersheds in Columbus. In addition to Columbus, SRWMO boundaries also include East Bethel, Ham Lake and Linwood. The SRWMO Board of Managers is made up of nine members, with Columbus supplying two: one City Councilmember and one resident.
